Ever since Donald Trump was elected as the next President of the United States, the biggest question among the fashion set has been who will step forward and dress Melania Trump? Ahead of this Friday's inauguration, it looks like Ralph Lauren has chosen the former. Women's Wear Daily reports that Karl Lagerfeld, one fashion's most revered designers, is "likely" to dress Melania for the inauguration this weekend.
While many may be surprised to learn that Lauren, the outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter (who was dressing the Democratic candidate throughout the campaign as well during her time in the White House as first lady), will be associating himself with the controversial family, Mrs. Trump has always been a fan of Lauren's. Melania previously wore a $4,000 white Ralph Lauren pantsuit on Election Night.
The fashion choices of Ivanka Trump, the daughter who many believe will serve as a quasi-first lady, have also come under scrutiny.
Trump and Clinton both wore Lauren before and after election night. They include Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Sophie Theallet. During Donald Trump's victory address, the lady was seen looking elegant and attractive in a Ralph Lauren one-shoulder jumpsuit.
According to WWD, Ralph is already designing a gown for the future FLOTUS. The clothing line was also where Melania pulled the white jumpsuit she wore during Trump's acceptance speech at the Hilton Hotel back in November.
Johnna Konta overpowers Agnieszka Radwanska in Sydney final
And it is Radwanska who stands in Konta's way once again, after the Pole triumphed 6-1 6-2 over Barbora Strycova . Both players were treated for foot injuries during a grueling second set on Ken Rosewall Arena.
This won't be the first time Trump has worn a Lauren-designed ensemble.
Michelle Obama, for instance, wore a buttery ensemble by the Cuban-born, New York-based designer Isabel Toledo to the inauguration in 2009 and selected a navy coat from Thom Browne, also a NY mainstay, in 2013.
She hasn't said whether she'll continue to wear her own label; a spokesperson declined to answer when queried by The Associated Press. I think they look great in the clothes.
"Did she even ask him? No".
