Mohmad said when contacted by Bernama to confirm a foreign news report yesterday which mentioned that Kim Jong Nam was purportedly the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, was murdered in Malaysia on Monday.

Another Malaysia police official, Fadzil Ahmat, told the Reuters news agency that somebody approached Kim from behind and put something in front of his face. However, he died en route to the hospital.

"I hope my younger brother will do his best for the sake of North Koreans' prosperous lives", he reportedly said. Local and other media is indicating that the deceased man is Kim Jong Nam, Kim Jong Un's older brother.

The reports - which could not be immediately be verified - said Kim's half-brother, Kim Jong Nam, was attacked at Kuala Lumpur airport Monday by two women who fled the scene, according to accounts by South Korea's TV Chosun, a cable channel.

North Korea, with its secretive and idiosyncratic leadership, is prone to sensational tales that often turn out to be exaggerated.

Following his father's death in December the following year, Kim's comments about his younger brother's ability to maintain "absolute power" to a Japanese journalist singled him out as his most vocal, and high profile, critic.

The North Korea leadership bases its claims to authority on the "Mt. Paektu bloodline". She has a position in a propaganda and agitation department in the committee and is known as Kim Jong Un's gatekeeper, Gause said.

The Star newspaper said that Jong-nam was believed to have been in Malaysia since 6 February. He was rumored to have worked in computing in North Korea and money laundering operations across Southeast Asia, according to the Post.

Apple hires Amazon Fire TV boss to head up Apple TV division
It remains to be seen whether the new executive could fulfill the dream of Apple in reviving the fortunes of its TV segment. However, in the company's Q1 earnings report, revenue for Other Products declined by 8% year-over-year.

Kim Jong Nam made worldwide headlines in 2001, when he was caught at an airport in Japan traveling on a fake passport from the Dominican Republic, telling authorities he had wanted to visit Tokyo Disneyland. At the time he told those questioning him that he had simply travelled to Japan to visit Disneyland.

It later transpired he was never in the running to be leader.

Kim Jong-nam survived another suspected assassination attempt in 2011 in Macau.

Kim Jong Il had at least three sons with two women, as well as a daughter by a third. They did not grow up together, and they did not, clearly, have a close relationship.

In 2011, North Korean spies tried to assassinate Kim Jong-nam in Macau, a source told the Daily Mail.

Interestingly, his half-brother, the current North Korea leader, was also educated in Switzerland but developed no such opinions. In the shootout with his bodyguards, Jong-nam managed to escape. But in recent years he seems to have had homes - and families - in Beijing and Singapore as well. Although there was scant evidence that Kim Jong Nam was plotting against the North Korean leader, he provided an alternative for North Koreans who would want to depose his brother. Kang is a distant relative of the Kim family. Ko and Kim Jong-il had another son, Kim Jong-chol, who was seen at an Eric Clapton concert in London in 2015. He thinks he (Kim Jong Un) has a lack of experience, he's too young, and he didn't have enough time to be groomed.

Lee said Kim Jong Un also had "a serious legitimacy problem in terms of his bloodline". "And when the consolidation phase comes to and end in totalitarian regimes, patronage systems can be targets for purges", Gause said. It's a great metaphor for North Korea as a whole. Or, it could be a sign of an internal power struggle in North Korea. "Doesn't look so stable to me", Cha said.
