Stephen Michael Miller
Sept. 21, 1959 — Sept. 8, 2007
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Sept. 14, for Harley-Davidson aficionado Stephen Michael Miller, 47, who died Saturday, Sept. 8, in Lathrop.
Born in Ottawa, Ill., Mr. Miller lived in Manteca more than four decades before moving to Lathrop three years ago. He worked as a drywall foreman in the Bay Area for nearly 30 years. An avid bowler, he traveled from tournament to tournament, playing as many as 300 games and winning a number of awards. He also loved golfing, fishing and racquetball.
Mr. Miller’s most recent passion was his Harley-Davidson; he loved to ride through the hills side-by-side with his brother and travel across the country with his wife on their Harleys. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR events and racing go-carts.
He adored his daughters and granddaughter and will be remembered for his infectious smile, his “gentle giant” demeanor and the twinkle in his eyes.
After a four-year battle with cancer, loved ones say, he finally laid down his sword. As they recall, he often said, “If it’s not going to kill you, then don’t worry about the small stuff — life is too short.”
Mr. Miller is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Miller; daughters, Allison Miller of Manteca and Ashley Miller of Sacramento; parents, Bill and Jacqueline Miller of Manteca; granddaughter, Alexis Quitiquit of Manteca; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many lifelong childhood friends.
Today’s Mass will begin at noon at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North St., in Manteca. A celebration of Mr. Miller’s life will follow at the Miller home. Burial will be private.
