A drum circle, endangered species parade, and a plethora of music and dance will fill Stockton’s Victory Park on Sunday for San Joaquin County's 20th annual Earth Day Festival.
Performers will keep culture flowing from two stages throughout the day. !Akimbo will combine Latin, Funk, Celtic and Jazz with a world-fusion dance and music concert, and the homegrown Bad Goods band will play original “environmental” tunes.
Dozens of booths, displays and exhibitions will fill the park, and there will be food and exotic crafts for the whole family.
The premiere environmental event in all of San Joaquin County, the Earth Day Festival is designed to educate people about taking care of the world’s natural resources.
Both Manteca and Lathrop will also host events this weekend in observance of Earth Day on April 22.
A City of Manteca Recycling Event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the city's Solid Waste Office, 210 E. Wetmore St. Electronic waste, such as computer monitors and old TVs, will be collected and residents' documents will be shredded.
In Lathrop, residents are invited to a Lathrop Beautification Day and Recycling Fair from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 19 at Valverde Park, 15557 Fifth St. Folks can volunteer to plant flowers do yardwork in parks. E-waste and recyclables will also be collected.
