Sloppy conditions did little to detour East Union High’s talented golf program from championship honors at the Valley Oak League tournament on Tuesday, April 29, at the Saddle Creek Country Club in Copperopolis.
The team shot a 425, well above second place Sierra (434). The T'wolves had topped East Union in the final VOL contest of the season.
John Ott and Kyle Harman each carded 80-stroke finishes on the windy course, Ott’s league points adding up to MVP honors.
East Union added scores from Tanner Bragg (87), Darrion Bernaldes (87), Richard Phillips (91) and Ed Trig (100) in the title win.
Sierra saw an 83-stroke finish from Micuael Hajenga while Miguel Dominguez and Sammy Matts each shot 84. Joey Matts (91), Paul Michaleto (92) and Luis Depeda (96) rounded out scoring.
Manteca finished sixth as a team, with scoring from Jeremy Resuello (106), Nick Gonzales (109), Eric Culpepper (117), Kenny Summers (118) and Daniel Chaves (128).
