ON DISPLAY: Deanna Hunt, an artist and professor whose work has found a place in collections both in the U.S. and abroad, mulls over selections Saturday, April 26 at the City of Lathrop’s Annual Mayor’s Art Show and Sale. More than 150 people submitted paintings, photographs and sculptures for the event, the biggest turnout in the show’s 15-year history. Mayor Kristy Sayles will later handpick a piece to add to the city’s permanent collection.

STATEMENT: Peace in the Middle East,” a scupture by Jerrod Mays, consists of a gas pump leading from the country of Iraq on a globe to a peace sign. The piece, which sells for $300, took its category’s top prize.
THE FARMER: An oil painting entitled “The Farmers” took first prize in its category. It sells for $500.
