East Union sophomore Kyle Harman shot a 76 at the Greenhorn Creek Golf Course in Angels Camp on Monday, May 5, to advance as the lone Manteca Unified School District Individual at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships.

He was just one stroke behind medalist Kevin Rei of Sonora, and four strokes better than his teammate and Valley Oak League MVP, John Ott.

East Union (435 strokes) was fourth as a team after Ott’s 80, a 91 from Richard Phillips, 92 from Darrion Bernaldes, and a 96 from Tanner Bragg.

Sierra finished in fourth with a 437, and nearly saw an individual advancement from Miguel Dominguez (78), who lost an advancement playoff. Joey Matts also shot an 82 while Luis Zepada carded a 90 and Paul Michaleto a 93. Michael Hajenga shot a 94 as well.

The Masters tournament will kick off with a shotgun start on Monday, May 13, at the Stevinson Ranch Golf Course in Stevinson.
