The Spreckels Park Little League Minor division Giants worked past the Dodgers for an 11-2 victory at Brock Elliott School.
Kody Justis and Stephen Halleck combined on the mound to allow only two hits with 12 strikeouts. The Giants had the hot bats with 12 hits, Halleck leading the way with three doubles. Mark Vicente added three singles, while Zakary DeRossett and Mathew Snell knocked out a double and single apiece. Steve Rios and Abraham Velasco contributed singles.
The Dodgers were led by Jonathon Shaefer who had a double, while Nick Oseguera added a single.
Giants 12, Padres 6
Zakary DeRossett led the Giants, throwing for five strikeouts and one hit. Justin Killian and Steve Rios followed up with a combined nine strikeouts in three innings. DeRossett managed a double and a single while Kody Justis added a triple. Mark Vicente and Killian contributed two hits apiece. Steve Rios and Adrian Sauceda managed singles.
Spreckels Major Orioles 8, Yankees 1
The undefeated Orioles becoming the victor after breaking up a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth.
Jacob Vaughan started the hit parade with a walk, while Nick VanWarmerdam (who went 2-for-3) smashed a ground-rule double. He was followed up by Michael Garibay, Jonathan Barry, and George Uriate, who each managed a hit and continued the seven run streak. Justin Canady went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run as well. VanWarmerdam threw out two runners going for the steal.
Alex Jorgensen threw for three and a third innings giving up one run but striking out six, while Barry pitched two innings and Jason Manuta closed.
Blake Sunquist of the Yankees pitched for four innings, managing nine strikeouts with only one run. Matt Manetti led the Yankees with a double.
Orioles 2, Twins 1
Richard Martin and the Twins held the Orioles to three hits and no runs through the fifth and managed seven strikeouts. The shut out was demolished after Garibay smashed a single and Manuta hit a walk-off home run, which gave the Orioles their 10th win of the season.
Canady threw for the Orioles, allowing one run on two hits and seven strikeouts. Barry followed up with two stellar innings to get the win. Jorgensen led the offensive charge by going 2-for-2 with a double. Byron Burlaza followed up with a single.
